I'm a hybrid. I was born in London,
England on May 4th, 1950. My mother played piano and as a kid I listened
avidly to music. I learned piano briefly at age 5 and began violin
lessons by the age of 8. By my teens I had moved on to folk and rock
'n roll, and began playing guitar. At college I spent a lot of time
jamming with friends on guitar and thought it might be fun to jam
with the fiddle. I was hooked right away and luckily so were my friends.
Adding my affinity for folk, rock and other genres of music to my
classical skills, I created my own style of violin playing. In 1972
I moved to the United States and have pretty much lived here since.
In 1973 I toured the West Coast with an Irish rock band Casterbridge
Union. Since then I have played or recorded with numerous artists
and bands including Clear County Line in LA, and Poets in Heat in
the Washington DC area. Oh yeh, I did a two week stint with Dwight
Yoakam in a dingy dive in Chatsworth, California before he made it
to the big time! My musical influences include folk music from around
the world such as English, Scottish, Irish, American, Latin, Cuban,
African, Middle Eastern, Indian, and dozens of other cultures, plus
rock, jazz, fusion, blues, swing.
The album "When", a collaboration, was recorded in 1995.
More recently I have been recording my original compositions culminating
in a 2002 album Lifes Little
Mysteries.
